Grace L. Donohue Obituary
GRACE J. DONOHUE, 91, passed into eternal life March 13, 2015 in the Air Force Village West Skilled Nursing Center with family at her side. Grace was born and raised in Chicago, Illinois, but left and traveled the country with her high school sweetheart, Bob, through the auspices of the U.S. Air Force, after they were married. They eventually settled in California where the warmth and sunshine infused their blood. Grace's husband Bob predeceased her and she will be interred with him at the Riverside National Cemetery. She is survived by her children: Kathleen Geraci, MaryEllen Burkhouse (Ron), Robert (Marita), James Donohue (Tanya), Thomas Donohue (Mary), Christopher Donohue (Dana), fifteen grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren, many nieces and nephews, and sister-in-law Jeanne Herrick. After all her children graduated from college, Grace fulfilled a life-long dream. She went to college and received an AA degree. She then worked as a teacher's aide in regular classrooms and with special education students - a real joy for her. Grace was a loving and devoted mother and grandmother as well as a friend to many. With all her years of travel, she established and maintained great friendships over all the country. When she chose to move to Air Force Village, Grace found a new family among the residents. She volunteered at the March Field Museum, was the emergency floor warden for several years, worked in the Gift Shop, helped with donut Sunday at the chapel and greatly enjoyed the social life and activities at the Village. She will be missed by many. A memorial Mass will be celebrated in her honor on Saturday, May 2, at 10:00am at the Air Force Village Chapel followed by a reception in the Village Convocation Room. Any memorial gifts should be directed to the Air Force Village Foundation at Air Force Village West, 17050 Arnold Drive, Air Force Village Foundation Office, Riverside, CA 92518 or the School Sisters of Notre Dame, Atlantic Midwest Conference, Department of Mission Advancement, 345 Belden Rd., Wilton, CT 06897.
