Obituary Condolences

HARM "AC6VN" WIJMA, 80, passed away at home on December 18, 2014 after a short battle with cancer. Harm was born in the Netherlands, but lived around the world. He married his high school pen pal, Mieko, in 1958 and settled in Japan for 21 years. Together they also lived in Taiwan, Hong Kong, and Singapore before retiring to California to be near their children. Harm was an avid amateur radio operator, using Morse code or talking to people around the world daily in Dutch, English, or Japanese. His family will warmly remember him as a dedicated and loving father who diligently called every day to check in, a kind and generous Opa, and a loving companion to his grand-dog Maya. He was funny, enjoyed a competitive game of Scrabble, and would occasionally dust off his harmonica to play a few tunes. Harm is preceded in death by his wife of 51 years. He is survived by his two children (Roy and Cindy), their spouses (Lannie and Yasser), and three grandchildren (Justin, James, and Emma). As per his request, no service will be held.
