Harold Taylor Jr. Obituary
HAROLD TAYLOR JR. January 20, 1931 - January 16, 2017 Age 85, went home to be with the Lord January 16, 2017. Harold was born in Corona, California on January 20, 1931 to Harold Taylor Sr. and Lucile Stadler Taylor and was a lifelong resident of Riverside, CA. Since childhood, Harold was eager to learn and enjoyed being productive. He attended Poly High and RCC before transferring to UCLA where he earned his Bachelor and MBA degrees. While attending UCLA, he worked part time repairing laundry equipment in Laudromats in the Westwood area. Shortly after graduating he married the love of his life, Lola Averitt Taylor and joined his dad in the family appliance business, dedicating his life's work to the success of Taylor's Appliance. After a devastating fire in 1971, the store burned to the ground, yet Harold opened the store the very next day out of the warehouse down the alley to keep the business open, being there for his customers and his employees. He cared deeply for his customers and employees. Harold enjoyed helping people and was often found behind the parts counter solving customers' appliance problems. He was dedicated to his appliance co-op buying group, United Stores, where he served as treasurer for over 30 years in addition to having served as treasurer for University Christian Church for 25 years. Having a passion for western lifestyle, Harold loved riding and caring for his horses. In his earlier years he enjoyed leather carving and true to character, produced lovely pieces. Harold is survived by his loving wife of 64 years, Lola Taylor; brother Robert Taylor; sister Carol Olson; children Wayne (Jennifer) Taylor, Paula Taylor Moore, Scott (Maralene) Taylor; grandchildren Nathan Taylor, Justin Taylor (deceased), Ryan Moore, Sarah Moore Palodichuk, Bradley Taylor, Bryant Taylor and 7 great grandchildren. Services will be held February 3, 2017 at 11:00 am at Acheson & Graham Garden of Prayer Mortuary, 7944 Magnolia Ave., Riverside, CA. A Celebration of Life will immediately follow at 12:30 pm at the Victoria Club, 2521 Arroyo Drive, Riverside, CA 92506.
