He was born on April 4, 1929 in Los Angeles, CA, and was a resident of San Bernardino for 59 years. He earned an undergraduate degree at UCLA followed by a Master's degree in Civil and Traffic Engineering from UC Berkeley. Harry married Alice Jensen in 1955 and soon thereafter they had four sons. He worked as an assistant Highway Engineer for the State of California and then moved into the private sector in 1960. Harry partnered with Robert Weddle to create the engineering firm Krueper & Weddle, which later became Krueper Engineering & Associates. Harry was the principal Engineer for KE & A in San Bernardino for nearly 50 years. Harry and Alice (with a strong groundswell of support from local conservationists) were instrumental in organizing the defense and designation of the San Gorgonio Wilderness, which was passed by the United States Senate in 1964. He was also active in the UC Berkeley Hiking Club, the Sierra Club and Pacific Crest Trail Association. His lifelong passion with Big Bear lasted for 75 years, and he maintained a second residence near Big Bear Village in the San Bernardino Mountains which he loved. He also participated for many years in Cub Scouts, Boy Scouts and Explorer Scouts, with many outdoor activities and hiking and canoeing trips throughout southern California over many years. Harry was preceded in death by his son, Bruce, and his wife of 41 years, Alice Krueper. Harry is survived by his three sons, Ronald of Highland, CA; David of Corrales, NM; and Brian of Alta Loma, CA, seven grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and one great great-grandchild.
