Harry Paul Rodgers Obituary
HARRY PAUL RODGERS On Thursday, September 22, 2016, we lost one of the greats of "The Greatest Generation". Harry Paul Rodgers of Altavita/Air Force Village West in Riverside, California, passed away at the age of 93, surrounded by his devoted wife and his three loving daughters. Harry was born in Hooversville, Pennsylvania, on March 5, 1923. He graduated from the United States Naval Academy in 1946 and three days later married his childhood sweetheart, Margaret, and thus they began their long and loving journey that lasted over 70 years. Harry was a veteran of two wars, a Vice President of the insurance branch of General Motors, and an incredible, amazing husband and father. He was an honorable gentleman of morals, truth, integrity, respect, and strength. His sense of humor brightened our lives, and his capacity to love was remarkable. He brought out the best in the people around him, and he will be forever missed. One of Harry's favorite quotes was, "The most important days in my life are not my yesterdays, but my todays and tomorrows." Harry is survived by his soulmate and wife, Margaret Edith (Hinger) Rodgers; his three daughters, Cathy Blakely, Cynthia Ratzlaff, and Nancy Stinchfield; three sons-in-law; five grandchildren; seven great grandchildren, and one sister. A celebration of life has been planned for 1:00 PM on Saturday, October 15, 2016, in the Altavita/AFVW Memorial Chapel at 21233 B-Lemay Drive, Riverside, CA 92518, with a reception to follow at the Village Hall. In lieu of flowers, a donation may be made to Breast Friends Forever, 1221 W. 243rd Street, Harbor City, CA 90710. Special gratitude to the caring staffs at Riverside County Regional Medical Center and to Mission Hospice for making Harry's last days and moments peaceful.
