Harvey Michael Ruffridge Obituary
HARVEY MICHAEL RUFFRIDGE Age 95, of Northwood, died Wednesday, January 16, 2013 at the Lutheran Retirement Home in Northwood. A funeral service will take place at Pierce Bros. Crestlawn Memorial Chapel in Riverside, California on Saturday, January 26, 2013 at 10:00 am. Harvey M. Ruffridge was born on April 3, 1916 in Grafton, Iowa to Henry O. and Myra J. (Graves) Ruffridge. He attended school in Grafton, Iowa. Harvey enlisted in the United States Army on March 28, 1941 at Ft. Des Moines. He was stationed with the 291st Infantry Division and fought during World War II in the battle of Normandy. On December 3, 1945 Harvey received his honorable discharge from the United States Army at Camp McCoy, Wisconsin. On January 1, 1952 Harvey was united in marriage to Edna M. Spaulding. Harvey worked for many years as a house mover in California until his retirement in 1980 from Thompson Ability House Movers. In his free time he enjoyed fixing, tinkering, and working on various projects. Harvey also was an accomplished gardener. Harvey gave of himself to all those who knew him. He was kind, gentle, and unselfish. Harvey always thought of others and put their needs above his own. He was a wonderful example of humility and sacrificial love.
