Helen B. Batcha Obituary
HELEN B. BATCHA May 4, 1926- June 14,2014 Helen Batcha, beloved wife of the late Jim Batcha, passed away last Saturday, June 14, 2014 after a short illness. Helen was born in Wright City, OK on May 4, 1926. She graduated high school in 1943 and moved to Port Arthur, TX during WWII. During that time, she met a young sailor from California and they married May 3, 1944. After the end of the war in 1945, they came to Riverside with their 1 month old son, Frank. By 1950 they had two more sons, Steve and Tom. All the boys grew up in a loving and fun family in West Riverside, where the boys attended the same schools as their dad. Helen and James and all the boys loved camping and spent many summers in Lake Tahoe, the Sierras, the Redwood forests, and especially the beaches in So Cal. The whole family and friends also enjoyed the many wonderful times at Lake Mojave and lovely Searchlight. Helen was always active in school activities, the PTA, The Women's Club and many other interests, and later enjoyed painting, rock collecting and the occasional trip to the casino. She was fiercely proud of and loved being an Oakie and living in Rubidoux, and loved Riverside; but she loved nothing more than her family, who will miss her dearly along with the many friends she had. Helen was preceded in death by her husband James, brothers Paul, John, Frank and Sam and sisters Annie and Lilly, 5 sisters-in-law and 3 brothers-in-law. Helen is survived by her oldest sister, Ruby Lee Smith of Nashville, TN, sons Frank (Kim) of Benicia, CA, Steve (Patty) of Riverside, and Tom (Joyce) of Apple Valley; as well as 5 grandchildren, and 5 great-grandchildren.We will all miss you mom, grandma, meema, gigi Helen. Services will be held Friday, June 20 at 10am at Central Community Christian Fellowship in Riverside, CA. She will be laid to rest with her late husband at Riverside National Cemetery.
