Helen Berenato Obituary
HELEN BERENATO Beloved Wife, Mother, Grandmother March 31, 1926 September 18, 2014 Helen Berenato passed away Thursday, September 18, 2014, after a courageous battle with bladder cancer. She was born in Los Banos, California, where she met Tom Berenato, her beloved husband of 60 years. Helen and Tom and their four children resided in Riverside for the last 50 years. Helen worked for over 20 years as a cafeteria worker with Riverside Unified School District. After retiring from RUSD in 1991, Helen became a "regular" at the Janet Goeske Senior Center, playing Bingo every Saturday and Monday. She was an excellent seamstress, cake decorator, and cook. Helen was selfless -- always putting others before herself. Helen loved her family and was actively involved with her children and grandchildren. Helen was a member of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church in Riverside since 1962. Shortly after retiring, a church member persuaded Helen and Tom to take a tour bus trip to Las Vegas with them. From that time on, Las Vegas became a favorite getaway for Helen and Tom, and Freemont Street in Las Vegas was a magic "adventure land." Helen was preceded in death by her husband Tom Berenato. She is survived by her sons Lawrence Berenato, Greg Berenato (and wife Donna,) and David Berenato, her daughter Karen Holloway (and husband Steve,) granddaughters Elizabeth and Katie Holloway. Visitation will be at Acheson & Graham Garden of Prayer Mortuary (7944 Magnolia Ave, Riverside) on Thursday, October 2nd from 5:00 8:00 pm (includes Rosary at 6:30 pm.) Funeral Mass will be at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church (5250 Central Ave, Riverside) on Friday, October 3rd at 9:30 am. Interment will follow at 11:30 am at Riverside National Cemetery. Friends are invited to join the family for a Reception of Remembrance at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church immediately following the cemetery interment services. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions in Helen's name to the Janet Goeske Foundation, 5257 Sierra St, Riverside, CA 92504 (www.jgf4seniors.org) Arrangements under the direction of Acheson & Graham Garden of Prayer Mortuary (951) 688-1221
