Helen was born in Harlem, New York. At the age of 3, Helen began playing the piano, assisted by her two older sisters, who sat her on telephone directories so that she could reach the keys. At five years of age, she began lessons from her first piano teacher Mrs. Archibald. This began her life long passion for playing classical piano, which included recitals at Hunter College and Carnegie Hall in New York City. Her working career consisted of 20+ years at So. Cal. Edison, where she retired. She wanted to stay active and started working at Amtrak, where she also retired after 10 years.
Helen was involved with many different organizations including: National Council of Negro Women, Society of Military Widows, Black Chamber of Commerce, Master Choral Music Group, Toastmasters and taught crochet for an arts and crafts class.
Helen was the definition of class, integrity and drive. Her life will be celebrated and missed by family and friends. May God rest her soul.
Helen was preceded in death by her parents Henry Thomas Henderson and Mabel Marion Wright; her loving husband Leo Edward Moore and her two sisters. She is survived by her brother Fredrick Henderson and nieces and nephews.
