1926 - 2017 Obituary Condolences
HELEN LENON
June 16, 1926- April 29, 2017
Helen Lenon (Warning) passed away on April 29, 2017 in Riverside, California. Helen was 90 at the time of her passing.
Helen was born in Pocatello, Idaho on June 16, 1926, to John and Pearl Warning. While working at a movie theatre in Pocatello, Helen met the love of her life, James E. Lenon, Jr. The couple eloped to Elko, Nevada, to be married in 1948. Helen traveled the world with Jim while he was serving in the Army, including Japan, Germany, Puerto Rico, Kansas, California, Georgia and finally back to California where they lived in Brea for 40 years. Helen was a skilled creator of hand and needlework, many of which are displayed in home of family and friends. For many years, Helen was an active participant in the National Sojourner's Camp Followers.
One of the projects Helen was most proud of is a large hanging map depicting the United States which Helen created in Cross stitch. This amazing piece of work includes the birth places of James III, Debora Diane and Lacy Ann. Helen also enjoyed camping in their trailer with family at the beach, and going fishing in Lone Pine was one of her favorite camping trips.
Helen is survived by her husband Jim, and daughters Lacy and Debbi, and her son Jim, along with 4 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren.
Funeral service will be held on Wednesday, May 10, 2017 in Akes Family's "Chapel of the Chimes" at 3 o'clock in the afternoon. Graveside service will be on Thursday, May 11, 2017 in Riverside National Cemetery at 12 Noon. Staging area number 1.
The family is thankful for all the assistance provided by friends and staff at Brookdale Senior Living.
