Helen "Honey" Wright Obituary
Helen "Honey" Jacqueline Masten Ottinger Wright was gathered into her baptismal promise at age 93 on November 30, 2017. She was born March 20, 1924 in Marshfield, IN. Helen graduated Riverside Polytechnic High School in 1942. Her first marriage was to Fred Ottinger, Jr. and they had a daughter, The Rev B.J. Vercelli. Helen remarried in 1951 to William Wright and had a son Richard Wright in 1954.
She is survived by her grandchildren, Charles (Sherry) Cummings, Wendy Bunker, and Candyce (Steven) Helgenberg; seven great grandchildren and four great, great, grandchildren along with her niece, Frances and nephew Jack and many great nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, John Ernest Masten and Josephine Mary McKay, her husband William Wright, her daughter The Rev. Barbara Jeannette (Ron) Vercelli, and son, Richard (Dawn) Wright.
She lived in Riverside, California since the 1960's and worked in a variety of clerical, dental and nurse's aide positions, to include significant volunteer time at her church, Hope Lutheran on Arlington Ave.
She loved to collect butterfly art, thimbles and greeting cards and was a member of the Inland Clinkers Organ club. She treasured her friends like family and her many friendships sustained her. In her final years she gathered many new friends at her residence in Riverside Community Care and Rehab.
Services will be held on December 14, 2017 at 11:30 am at Hope Lutheran Church, 2882 Arlington Ave, Riverside, CA and she will be interred at Riverside National Cemetery. Donations may be made to Hope Lutheran Church Organ Replacement Fund.
