Henry Dallan Rosenthal Obituary
HENRY DALLAN ROSENTHAL, nicknamed "Butch", 76 of Corona CA passed peacefully on April 20, 2015 in the City of Orange, CA. Henry was born in Sheboygan, Wisconsin on May 29, 1938 to Henry Rosenthal and Edna Weiss. In 1945 the family settled in Clovis, CA, where he got the life-long nickname "Butch" from his kindergarten teacher due to his butch style haircut. In an effort to help support his family in difficult economic times, from the time Henry was 5 he worked alongside his siblings and mother picking cotton, fruit and packaging peaches. Henry also started work raising and processing chickens at age 8 on the family's "Clovis Poultry Ranch". At age 17 Henry left Clovis High School, asking his mother to sign a waiver so he could join the United States Marine Corps with his best friend Melvin "Curly" Speake. Henry served honorably in the Corps from 1955-1958. Always the faithful son and brother, Henry sent half of his paycheck from the Marines back to continue to help support his family, which now totaled 9 siblings. After the Corps Henry started learning the masonry trade and by the time he was 21 became a block/brick mason. In August of 1960 Henry married Judy Carzoli and they had 9 children. After living in Bellflower and Norwalk, CA they eventually resided in Santa Fe Springs, CA in 1966. From 1963-1974 Henry was a union journeyman level block/brick mason with the Bricklayers Local 04. In 1975 Henry became a California State Licensed Masonry Contractor and named his business "H & R Masonry". Henry moved his family to Corona CA in 1979. Henry was a hands-on business owner and enjoyed working alongside his crew during the day while performing office matters in the afternoons and weekends. He took pride in his work and thrived working on difficult commercial and public masonry projects. Henry divorced in the mid 1990s and retired from contracting in 2001. In 2003 he moved to Sanger, CA, but returned to Corona in 2010 until his passing. Henry was known as a hard worker and excellent family provider. He had a unique ability to engage and talk with people from all walks of life. He established many friendships, some of which lasted nearly his entire life. He was generous in sharing the resources he had with friends and family in need, at times opening up his home. Henry was known for his excellent memory, wit, sense of humor, and ability to dance. Henry enjoyed many pastimes including fishing, cultivating gardens and fruit trees, family reunions, enjoying a cold Budweiser with friends, classic cars, and seeing his grandchildren. Henry was proud of his German ancestry and particularly fond of his late "momma", which he always professed his love and respect for. In addition to this Henry was proud of his 9 children, all of whom are productive citizens. Henry is survived by his 9 children Jeanette King; Shelly Owen; Michael Rosenthal; David Rosenthal; Cynthia Jenkins; Eric Rosenthal; Leah Williams; Brandon Rosenthal; Lindy Roberts; 22 grandchildren; 4 brothers; and 5 sisters. Henry was a beloved father, grandpa, brother, uncle, and friend and will be greatly missed. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to .
