Howard Clifford Clune

1928 - 2018 Obituary Condolences

Age 89, passed away into Eternal Life on January 8, 2018 at home surrounded by his wife, Janice, son Bill, and daughter Nancy.
"Howie" was born at home in Cooley, Minnesota on March 1, 1928, the youngest of 4 children. He graduated high school from Greenway High in Coleraine, Minnesota and then joined the Army. He served in the 7th Cavalry in both WW2 and Korea.
He returned to college at Itasca Junior College and completed his degree in Business at the University of Minnesota. He was employed by International Multifoods for 35 years, starting in the flour mills and working his way up to head the Transportation Division until the company was sold. After a bit of reflection, he decided retirement was a good idea, and purchased a lake home on Lake Pokegama near Grand Rapids, Minnesota and had been retired for 30 years.
Howie was a great family man. He also loved his sports, hunting, boating, fishing, golf, and snowmobiling. Before retirement he coached both baseball and football in the Brooklyn Park Athletic Association, where he was a key organizer, serving in many positions, including president. He was also very civic minded, and served as an officer in every organization he joined, usually culminating in being elected president.
In his retirement he found a new interest, motor homing with Jan, good friends, and camping clubs on many trips. They traveled around the country, to Alaska, and almost every state in the Union - always with one of their beloved poodles - Misty, Bo, and Tango.
Howie is survived by his wife Jan; his sisters Dorothy, and Vivian; his son Bill; daughter Nancy; grandsons Justin and Stefan, and granddaughter Lauren. He was pre-deceased by his father Clifford, mother Clara, and brother Robert.
Howie and Jan were married for 67 years and have lived "The Good Life" with NO REGRETS.
There will be a memorial service on Friday, February 2, 2018 at 11am at Miller-Jones Mortuary, 26770 Murrieta Rd., Sun City, Ca 92586, with interment to follow at Riverside National Cemetery.
