Idamay Bradshaw Obituary
IDAMAY BRADSHAW, a resident of Riverside, CA, since 1926, passed away at her daughter's home on July 2, 2015, at the age of 96. She was born in Missouri to Vernon and Rose Plummer. She attended Glen Avon Elementary where she was skipped a grade because she was a good reader. She considered herself a tomboy, and loved to climb trees and sing her heart out. She rode a school bus to University Heights Junior High School on 8th St. She remembered walking from school to the re-dedication of the new Buena Vista Bridge, connecting Riverside to West Riverside, in 1931. As a 12 year old she sold fireworks for Jack White, owner of Jack's Place, at the foot of Mt. Rubidoux. She attended and graduated from Poly High School in 1935. She also graduated with an AA in business from RCC in 1938. Some of her employers were State Farm, Manufacture's Life, New York Life; she retired in 1985 after 10 years with the City of Riverside, Planning Department. She was active in square dance groups, and was a member of several clubs, including National Secretaries Assn, and a lunch group of retired city secretaries. She traveled to Sendai, Japan, on the first trip celebrating Sister Cityhood with Riverside. She made friends wherever she went and was beloved by many. Since 1996 she lived at Braemar Co-operative Apartments in Riverside and was active in the Lunch Bunch, Water Aerobics group, and the Indoor Exercise group. She was preceded in death by her husbands, Maynard Berkey, Loren Williams, and Ferris Bradshaw; her son Ronald Berkey, brother Merle Plummer, and her parents. Mrs. Bradshaw is survived by her daughter and son-in-law Christine and Michael Grant, of Riverside. Her grandchildren are Brian (Rebecca) Grant, Gig Harbor, WA; Lori (Dennis) Stanley, Idaho Falls, ID; Amy (Brad) McDonald, Las Vegas, NV; Rebecca (Scott) Curtis, Aurora, IL, and Carrie (Peter) Smigelski, Kennewick, WA. She also leaves 15 beloved great grandchildren. A Celebration of Life will be held at the Clubhouse at Braemar Apartments, 4679 Braemar Place, in Riverside, on August 15, at 11:00am.
