James Allen "Jim" McGillvray Obituary
JAMES ALLEN MCGILLVRAY "JIM" went to be with Our Lord on Sunday, August 30, 2015 in Banning, CA. Jim was born in Ketchikan, Alaska on April 20, 1930 to Max & Irene McGillvray. He grew up and graduated from Ketchikan H.S. in 1949 and worked for McGillvray Bros. Const. Co. In 1951 he met his future wife Annette Egetter who he married in 1952. He left the great north in 1953 moving to Banning. Soon after he went to work surveying for Sanborn Eng. in Palm Springs, CA. He continued his education at Pasadena City College and UCR to become a Licensed Land Surveyor and continued to work for Sanborn Webb Engineering until he retired in 1995. During his lifetime he served in the Alaska Terr. Guard and the Calif. Nat. Guard. He volunteered for the Operating Engineers Apprenticeship Program, donated his services to Habitat for Humanity, and served on the Banning Planning Commission. Jim, along with his family, traveled to Alaska & Seattle often where most of his family lived. He especially enjoyed hitting the road in his RV to camp in the beautiful outdoors with family and friends. He loved every variety of food and most of all the fine cuisine his wife Annette prepared along with his favorite wine. He was preceded in death by his parents Max & Irene; sisters Pat Simpson and Rita Tomlinson; brother Donald McGillvray; in-laws Joseph, Anna, & William Egetter & Ethelyn Beuter. He is survived by his wife of 63 years Annette; sons Bruce (Linda "Lin") McGillvray, and Brett McGillvray; grandchildren Shane, Kevin, Kalan, Tyler, Breanna, & Karissa; 6 great grandchildren; sister-in-law Alberta Egetter & many nieces and nephews. A celebration of life will take place on Fri., Sept. 25, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Stephens Episcopal Church, 225 W. 8th St, Beaumont, CA. Private Inurnment at San Gorgonio Memorial Park in Banning at a later date. Family suggests donations to the or .
