JAMES BLYTHE, JR. Age 60, passed away on May 16, 2014 at home in Banning, CA where he had lived for 20 years. He was born on August 14, 1953 in Los Angeles, CA to father James Blythe Sr. and mother Dorothy. Jim served proudly as a sergeant in the United States Marine Corps. He graduated from Whittier High School. He attended College of the Desert and earned his Associate of Arts degree. He also attended the University of Redlands and earned his Bachelor of Arts degree and Master of Arts degree in Management. He was a deputy with the Riverside County Sheriff's Department for one year. He loved being a police officer and detective with the Palm Springs Police Department but had to medically retire after 14 years. Prior to his illness he was a teacher with Banning Unified School District. He was a member of the NRA. Jim had a lifetime of service to his family and to the community. He had a thirst for knowledge that never wavered throughout his life. His sense of humor was renowned. He longed to laugh and to make others laugh. He loved the outdoors and was always thinking of his next endeavor. He and his beloved wife had a joyous adventure in their 20 years together. He deeply loved all his family. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him. James is survived by his wife Betty; sons Brian of Yucca Valley, CA and Craig of Concord, CA; daughter Kelly of Las Vegas, NV, and 5 grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his father James Sr. of Los Angeles, CA; mother Dorothy of Whittier, CA and sister Darlyne of Eugene, OR. Visitation: Monday, May 26, 2014, 4-8pm with Rosary at 7pm, both at Weifels & Son, 50 E. Nicolet St., Banning, CA. Service: Tuesday, May 27, 2014, 10:30am at Riverside National Cemetery, 22495 Van Buren Blvd, Riverside, CA.
