James Cashman Obituary

Jim Cashman, construction visionary, passes away at age 90. Formerly of Palm Desert, California passed away May 8, 2017. Jim moved to Wolfforth, Texas with the love of his life, Ethel Goode Cashman, and his poodle, Jenny, in 2011. After serving in the army, Jim left his job as City Engineer of Sioux City, Iowa in 1955 to pursue land development in California. Jim was the president of the National Association of Home Builders. In 1975 he was honored as builder of the year and was the first builder to build a tract of solar powered homes. He was instrumental in developing Canyon Lake and exclusive communities in the Coachella Valley.
Known as a practical joker, Jim was the patriarch of the Cashman family which included five children: Susy BC McMillen, James M. Cashman, David M. Cashman and Kevin J. Cashman. He was predeceased by daughter, Mary Cashman Usas. He left 13 grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren.
