James David Griswold Obituary
JAMES DAVID GRISWOLD James David Griswold was born on January 12, 1944, in Macomb, Il. At a young age he developed a hardworking attitude on his family farm waking early to help take care of animals. It was here he also discovered his passion for driving tractors which later led to his career as a heavy equipment operator. Jim or Jimmy, as his family liked to call him, graduated from Brown County High School and soon after enlisted in the Marines and proudly served his country. He spent years overseas in Vietnam and then in Okinawa, Japan, as a tank mechanic during the Vietnam War and was promoted to Sergeant. After his service, Jim moved to California where he met the love of his life, Laura Stroup. Jim and Laura married on August 4, 1978 on the Queen Mary in Long Beach and soon after started a family. Jim accomplished much in his life, including becoming a licensed heavy equipment operator, a real estate agent, at one time founded his own construction company, and most importantly led a happy and full life. Jim was a kind, selfless and uplifting man, who shared his heart with everyone he met. He always saw the best in others and truly appreciated all forms of life. He was the person you would call for help and he would not think twice about going out of his way to lend a hand to a total stranger. His work on earth was completed on July 21, 2016 at his home in Corona, CA, at the age of 72 years young. He is survived by his loving family and friends: wife, Laura; children, Casey, Brett, Ashleigh and Yvonne; his eight grandchildren; mother, Mary; siblings, Art, Connie, Marvin, Sheila, and Michael. He was preceded in death by his father, Norman; siblings Kenneth and Verna. We love him, miss him, and will never forget him. He is our husband, father, brother, son, grandpa, and best friend. Services will be held on August 4th at 10:15am at Riverside National Cemetery.
