Obituary Condolences

It is with great sadness that we share that James Huff (Jim), age 86, passed away peacefully at his home on October 14, 2017, after a long battle with Alzheimer's Disease. He was surrounded by those who loved him. He would be the first to tell you, "Don't ever get old!"
Jim is survived by his three children, Laura Unger, Loretta Huff-Herrera, and David Huff; seven grandchildren, Jeremy, Lonny, Christian, Andrew, Megan, Rachel, and Jonathan, and one great grandchild, Eden. His wife Jessie preceded him in death. They were married for over 50 years. Jim was a loving and faithful husband, father and grandfather.
Jim was born In Wadsworth, Ohio. He joined the Navy as a young man, serving on an aircraft carrier during the Korean War. He earned his barber's license and cut hair for a while. He then worked for O.P. Ladd Construction and J.D. Diffenbaugh, where he was known as a faithful, hardworking employee. Jim enjoyed training his dog Gomer, raising champion Bantam chickens, parakeets, cockatiels, and other exotic birds and tending his wife's roses. He also enjoyed both ocean and fresh water fishing. Jim was well-known as a "tough" athlete, running several marathons, and cycling long rides including several rides to Cabo San Lucas. He was a member of Riverside Bike Club where members were always amazed how he could keep up as old as he was, and while riding a heavier mountain bike. Jim was always starting a new hobby. Whatever he did, he did well.
Jim's funeral services will be held Thursday, October 26, 10:30 a.m. at Riverside Arlington Church of the Nazarene located at 5475 Arlington Avenue, Riverside. Burial will follow at Riverside National Cemetery. Viewing will be Wednesday, October 25 from 5-9 p.m. at Arlington Mortuary, 9645 Magnolia Riverside.
