James "Jim" Lewis Obituary
Jim passed away on August 30, 2017. He was 67 years old, born on March 21, 1950 to parents Tom and Jean Lewis. He lived his early years in Lakewood and Long Beach, California. He graduated high school in 1967 from Lakewood High School and was a proud member of the 1966 Lakewood Lancer Moore League Championship Football Team. Jim spent one year at Long Beach City College before transferring to Cal State Long Beach where he earned his Bachelor's Degree in June 1971 and Masters Degree in Management in June 1972. His first job was with Firestone in South Gate. He then went to the U.S. Postal Service to help set up the Bulk Mail Center in City of Industry. He started at Denso, a subsidiary of Toyota, in Long Beach, in 1977. He worked in production control and then purchasing. In 1987, he opened American Industrial Manufacturing Services (AIMS) in Temecula, to remanufacture starters and alternators. A few years later, the plant moved to Murrieta. Over the years, the company not only earned many awards and recognitions, it was profitable and took care of its employees. Jim retired from the company in March 2013. If asked, Jim said retirement was the best job he ever had; he enjoyed golfing, woodworking, spending time with kids and grandkids, and traveling with his wife.
Jim met his wife, Peggy, their senior year of high school. They married June 13, 1970. They lived in Lakewood, Buena Park, La Palma, and finally moved to Canyon Lake in 1987. He set the hours at AIMS so that he could coach his four kids in baseball and soccer, and attend all of their high school sporting events. He was predeceased by his parents, Tom and Jean Lewis, his in-laws, Ann and Dick Walker, baby daughter Melissa, and niece Joanna. He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Peggy; son Matt and his wife Amanda, children Maddie and Nate; son Steve and his husband Luke, daughters Alex and Jessie; daughter Diane and her husband Gute, children Julia and Connor; son Chris and wife Ashley, daughters Emily and Paige. He is also survived by his brother Dan and wife Cheryl, their daughter Susanna; his sister Susan and her husband David, her daughters Jeannie, Valerie, Christine, and Colleen.
He will be remembered as a loving husband, dad, and grandpa, as well as a mentor to many. There will be a memorial service at Evans Brown Mortuary in Sun City on Sunday, September 17 at 1:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the or the . EVANS BROWN MORTUARY (951) 679-1114
