James Regis Wiesen Obituary
JAMES REGIS WIESEN, 79, of Hemet, California, passed away on Wednesday, May 27, 2015, at home surrounded by family and friends. He was born Thursday, January 23, 1936, in Homestead, Pennsylvania and was the son of the late Earl and Hannah (Weldon) Wiesen. He was married to the love of his life, Nancy (Richardson) Wiesen for over 62 years. Sports enthusiast, adviser, mentor, teacher, friend, uncle, father and husband is best how to describe Jim and his impact in the community. He had that personality trait where he was an instant friend to everyone he met. Jim's influence was a driving force to his sons to go to college and be very successful but also his impact on the community was immeasurable. Jim worked as an embalmer in the funeral profession for over 45 years. Jim worked for Harford Funeral Home, he was the manager of the Care Center for Miller-Jones Mortuary and he spent time working for a long time friend John Crosby in Burlingame, Ca. There are numerous students and apprentices who learned how to care for a loved one in a compassionate, caring way at many mortuaries all over Southern California. Jim loved sports and was once considered for the Minneapolis Lakers as a recruit. Hemet High School basketball and football were events he rarely missed. He was an active member of Our Lady of the Valley, Holy Sprit Catholic Church and St Vincent Catholic Church in Sun City. Jim worked behind the scenes and liked to volunteer but shied away from the limelight or awards, of which there were many. He did not look for recognition, his reward was helping the underprivileged to become successful. His altruistic method of teaching was so very subtle but very effective. Surviving is his wife, Nancy Wiesen; sons, Mike Wiesen (Carol), Pat Wiesen (Valerie), Jim Wiesen ( Michelle) and Larry Wiesen; brother, Earl Wiesen; eight grandchildren; and three great grandchildren; preceding his death was his sister Joann Dolan. A visitation will be at Miller-Jones Mortuary, 1501 W. Florida, Hemet on June 4, 2015 at 4:00PM to 7:00PM with a rosary at 6:00PM. A Funeral service will be at Our Lady of the Valley Catholic Church located at 780 S. State Street, Hemet, California, 10:30 AM on Friday, June 5th. In lieu of flowers please remember Jim and make a donation to the Hemetsportsmans.com
