Jim Bob Thompson passed away peacefully with his wife and soulmate Patsy by his side September 21, 2017 at Cedars Sinai Medical Center in L.A. Jim Bob was a very proud Air Force veteran of Vietnam serving most of his time in Cheyenne Mountain, Colorado Springs, Colorado. After returning from his military service he soon joined the E Clampus Vitus, a fraternal organization dedicated to the study and preservation of the heritage of the American West. He held many offices and enjoyed the organization and comradery of his fellow Clampers immensely. He then realized that something was missing in his life and realized it was his connection to his military friends and joined the American Legion, Carl R. Meairs Post 289. The rest is history. He served many offices including commander many times and went on to being District 21 Commander.
He is survived by his wife Patsy; son Michael (Ana); daughter Cari (Johnny); step children Dan (Donna), Tami (Todd).; 3 grandchildren and 6 step grandchildren. Predeceased by stepson Tom (Carole); and best friend and brother he never had Kevin Crook.
Viewing: Arlington Mortuary, Riverside, CA on Oct. 3 from 5pm-8pm. Memorial Service at Riverside National Cemetery Oct. 4 at 2:30pm with Celebration of Life immediately following at American Legion Post 289.
