JIMMY LIDGE HENRY Age 81, went home peacefully to be with our Lord on August 12, 2013. Jim was born August 25, 1931 in Hemet, California, one of 7 children born to William Curtis Henry and Ellen Lulu (Aker) Henry. During the Korean War, Jim served as a U.S. Air Force Sergeant and was honorably discharged. Upon returning home in 1953, he married his love Virginia. They had three boys, Jimmy N., Roger L., and Douglas W. Jim worked for Nutrilite Products in Lakeview and later joined the California National Guard, serving as a Warrant Officer. Jim became interested in Law Enforcement and rode with local Riverside County Sheriff's Deputies as a volunteer until accepted as a regular deputy and assigned to Idyllwild. After 4 years, he was assigned to Hemet Station and for 9 years worked as a Deputy and Investigator. He was promoted and transferred to the Indio station as a Sergeant of Detectives. In 1973, he returned to Hemet where he served as a Lieutenant. He transferred to Riverside and was placed in charge of the Corona-Norco team. He retired in 1977 after being injured. Jim later worked in security at the Hemet Valley Mall and as a parts manager for Mobile Life Living. He later worked for Lake Hemet Municipal Water District and achieved the rank of Chief Ranger. After moving to Homeland, he and his wife bought a quilting machine and for the next 20 years made quilts and quilted for many people. Jim was preceded in death by his father, William Curtis Henry; mother, Ellen Lulu Spradlin; and sisters, Juanita Strum and Jewel Nadine Henry. He is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Virginia (Gin) L. Henry; sisters, Wanda Batson of Santa Maria, CA; Evaline Robinson of Hesperia, CA; brothers, Robert (Marie) Spradlin of Homeland, CA and Charles (Shannon) Spradlin of Hamilton, KS; sons, Jimmy (Karen) Henry of Buffalo, WY, Roger (Robin) Henry of Hemet, CA and Douglas Henry of Firestone, CO. He also leaves behind, 7 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren. Services will be Tuesday, August 20th at Miller-Jones Mortuary, 1501 W. Florida Ave., Hemet, CA. Viewing will start at 10:00 am followed by Services at 10:30 a.m. Interment will follow at Riverside National Cemetery.
