Joan Warner Wendt Obituary
JOAN WARNER WENDT July 14, 1934 December 14, 2016 Joan Barney Warner Wendt (Jo) was born in St. Louis, MO on July 14, 1934. She was the only child of two only children, John Barney Warner, a decorated Marine and Mary Louise Reilley Warner, a 30 year International Red Cross occupational therapist, both of St. Louis. Jo was raised in San Diego, CA where she attended Cathedral and Point Loma High Schools and San Diego State College. She and her husband, Kenneth Ellzey Wendt, were married in San Diego in 1955 and raised six children: Kimberly Wendt, Kathryn Wendt Manning, Thomas Wendt, Martha Wendt Kallweit, Sarah Wendt Peters, and Andy Wendt. Jo and Ken moved to Julian, CA from San Diego in 1976. They were original residents of Wynola Estates. Jo owned and operated Spinning Wheel Antiques until she moved to Temecula after Ken's death in 1985. She soon became a successful Realtor, most recently with Coldwell Banker. She loved volunteering at the Friends of the Temecula Library bookstore and being an usher at the Old Town Temecula Community Theater. She was an avid bridge and poker player. Jo passed away on Wednesday, December 14, 2016 after an almost nine year battle with multiple myeloma. Jo always loved 4th of July and so it was no surprise that there was an amazing meteorite shower going on as she past from this life to the next. She will be greatly missed by her six children, 12 grandchildren: Brian, Charlie, Kenny and Meghan Manning, Jeremiah Wendt, Luke and Daniel Arris, Elise Kallweit, Jeff and Collin Peters and Addison and Nathan Wendt and great grandson, Eli Arris. Her Celebration of Life will be held on January 14, 2017, 1:00-4:00 pm at 42051 Main Street in Old Town Temecula. If you have any questions or need directions, please call Katie Manning at 951 294-7011.
