John F. "Jack" Hood Obituary
MR. JOHN F. "JACK" HOOD Mr. John F. "Jack" Hood, of Corona, CA, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Thursday, November 26, 2015, at the age of 85 after spending a lovely Thanksgiving Day with his family. Jack was born to parents Floyd John and Mary Katharine Hood on December 29, 1929 in Los Angeles, CA. He grew up in Torrance, CA and graduated from Torrance High School in 1948. He then joined the U.S. Navy on December 27, 1949 as a Reserve Officer in San Diego, CA. Jack then married his beloved wife, Beverly Ann Hood, on March 7, 1953. He became active as an Airman for the U.S. Navy on December 30, 1952 until October 28, 1954. He worked for the Auto Club among other jobs. In 1961, Jack joined the L.A. City Fire Dept., where he served as a Fireman, Auto Fireman, and Engineer, and then retired in 1989. He and his wife Beverly raised their family in Garden Grove, CA, from 1963-1988, then moved to the Sun Lakes Country Club in Banning, CA until May of 2015 when they moved to Corona, CA. Jack is survived by his wife, Beverly Ann Hood of Corona, CA; his son, Timothy Hood of Tempe, Arizona; his daughters, Betsy Payne of Corona, California; and Carrie Hood of Roswell, Georgia; five grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his sister, Jo Ann Charles. Jack's "Celebration of Life" will take place on Tuesday, December 29 at 11:00 a.m. at The Grove Community Church, 19900 Grove Community Dr., Riverside, CA 92508. Graveside services will follow at 1:00p.m., Riverside National Cemetery, 22495 Van Buren Blvd., Riverside, CA 92518. In lieu of flowers, if you are moved to do so, please give in Jack's name to The Wounded Warriors Project at 8880 Rio San Diego Drive, Suite 900, San Diego, CA 92108.
