Jose Isabel Rodriguez Obituary
"Papi", passed away at home with family by his side, on December 17, 2017, at the young age of 96,. He was the loving husband to Consuelo Duron Rodriguez. They celebrated their 70th anniversary on January 10th of this year.
He was the loving father of 8 children: Lydia Rodriguez Thompson, Jose Fidel Rodriguez, Jose Albert Rodriguez (deceased), Jose Richard Rodriguez, Consuelo Maria Rodriguez-Puccetti, Mary Lucinda DeMoss, Mary McClure, and Maria Cristina Rodriguez-Karl. He was a wonderful father-in-law to all the spouses of his children and he loved his 17 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, and 5 great-great-grandchildren. He was blessed with so much family.
He was the loving brother to 11 siblings, 5 who reside in Mexico: Jose de la Luz, Carmela, Victoria, Umberto, and Bertin Rodriguez. He has left behind a total of 49 nephews and nieces and their 67 children.
He was born in Tlaxco, Mexico on November 19, 1921. He grew up in both Tlaxco and the family ranch "Olivares" in Atlangatepec. He met his smart and beautiful wife Consuelo, in Puebla, Mexico, while he was studying to be a doctor, and she, a teacher. They had their three eldest children in Mexico and migrated to the US for a better future for their family. While they were settling down in the USA, they were blessed with 5 more children.
It was a hard life for a while, but he was determined to make the US his home. Volunteer work in the Morgue at Riverside General Hospital and his medical knowledge from Mexico, opened the door to other opportunities to work in the Los Angles Military Induction Center, Long Beach Veterans Hospital, and finally ended up at the Loma Linda Veterans Hospital doing research on diabetes. He worked for the US Government for over 30 years before retiring.
He was an avid gardener, enjoyed all animals, especially dogs, and enjoyed celebrating Christmas with family and by displaying tons of Christmas lights. He loved to read books on philosophy, psychology, and religion. He enjoyed sharing his love, knowledge, and wisdom with everyone. To the very end he continued to donate to many charities. He loved and nurtured his children, loved God, and the USA. He loved and missed Mexico and the family he left behind, but the US was his new home. Our Papi will be missed by all of us, but he left a lasting legacy-he lives in our hearts.
Viewing, prayer, and interment services will be held at Green Acres Memorial Park, 11715 Cedar Avenue, Bloomington, CA on December 30, 2017. Private viewing for immediate family will be from 9 am to 10 am, public viewing from 10 am to 11 am, prayer services from 11 am to 12pm, and the interment will start at 12:30.
After the interment, lunch will be provided at his son's home, Jose Richard Rodriguez, at 13179 Medal Place, Beaumont. Flowers are welcome. He loved all roses (especially red), fuchsias, Easter lilies, and gladiolas.
