Jung Ja Yeon Obituary
JUNG JA YEON Jung Ja passed away peacefully in her sleep on January 23, 2013 at the age of 77 following a courageous two-year battle with cancer. She was born on September 5, 1935 in Haesan, Korea. When she was in the fifth grade, her father passed away. Jung Ja helped her mother raise her three younger siblings. She graduated from the Korean Military Nursing Academy and served in the armed forces nursing corp for over 20 years. This included duties in a MASH unit in Vietnam from 1969-1970. She married Ha Choong Yeon on May 15, 1971. They immigrated to the United States (and Riverside) in 1976. From 1977 to 2005, Jung Ja worked as a nurse (working her way up from medical assistant to Licensed Vocational Nurse to Registered Nurse) at Riverside General Hospital/Riverside County Regional Medical Center. She attended Riverside Korean Baptist Church for 35 years. Jung Ja was preceded in death by her husband Ha Choong on March 22, 2008. Jung Ja Yeon is survived by her two children Thomas and Christina (Jacob) and two step-children April (Kwang Kyu) and Nikki (Chuck); her grandchildren Hannah, Joshua, Sarah, Michelle, Jason, Jeremy and Eunice. Funeral services were held on January 28, 2013 at the Sky Rose Chapel at Rose Hills Memorial Park in Whittier, CA. Burial services were held the following day.
