Keith E. Dinger Obituary

Keith Elbert (Ken) Dinger, 86, passed away peacefully on September 16, 2017 at Eben Haven Assisted Living Home in Menifee, CA after a brief battle with Alzheimer's. He was born on September 23, 1930 in Oakridge, PA to Helen Dinger Shoemaker.
Keith grew up in Oakridge, PA. He graduated from Redbank High School in New Bethlehem, PA.in 1949. After high school, he joined the U.S. Air Force in 1950. He served for 24 years, including serving in England, Turkey, the Azores and Vietnam. He retired in 1974, achieving the rank of Senior Master Sergeant. After retiring from the air force, he began working for the United States Post Office in 1975 where he worked as a mail carrier for 18 years before retiring.
Keith married Paula Murray in 1953 in Manchester, England. They were happily married for 63 years. Keith enjoyed roller hockey while serving in the Air Force in England, and playing golf. Keith and his family enjoyed camping while traveling across the country as they moved from base to base and with friends and family on weekend trips. While he was a quiet man, he was well liked by all who met him and was a kind and gentle soul. He also enjoyed doing some woodworking with his son. He was involved and served on the board of the North Golf Course
in Sun City, CA. After retiring Keith and Paula enjoyed taking many cruises.
Keith was preceded in death by his mother, Helen Irene Shoemaker and daughter, Ruth Ann Dinger. Keith is survived by his wife, Paula of Sun City, CA; his two daughters, Cathy-Rose Rettig (Michael Rettig) of Pinehurst, NC; and Margaret Helen Williams (Andrew Williams) of Panama City, FL; his son, Anthony John Dinger of San Diego, CA; his sister Barbara (Keith Bunker) of Chula Vista, CA, as well as five grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren and other relatives.
