1950 - 2017 Obituary Condolences

Kevin Paul Gabe died peacefully, surrounded by his family, on Feb. 16, 2017 from complications related to Alzheimer's. He was born March 5, 1950 in Des Moines, Iowa and moved to Riverside in 1995. He served his county in the Navy and was a Vietnam veteran.
He had a long career as an electrical engineer at Metal Container Corp. and retired in 2004. He could fix just about anything and had a legendary collection of tools.
He loved camping, hiking, sailing and long-distance walking. He and his wife Mary walked the LA Marathon in 2006. He loved animals, especially the many cats and dogs he had throughout his life.
He was a kind brother and a loving husband and father. He had a great sense of fun and playfulness. He always made people laugh. And he had a serious appreciation for Hawaiian shirts.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Marguerite Gabe, and his sister, Mary Gabe Bond.
He is survived by his beloved wife Mary Gabe; his daughter, Jessica Schmenk and her husband Larry of Long Beach, and by his daughter Nicole Gabe of Lake Forest. He is also survived by his siblings: Robin Gabe of Rockland, Maine, Michael and Marty Gabe of San Diego, Marguerite Gabe Braun of Petaluma, and Sean and Jan Gabe of Walnut Creek.
Funeral services will be held at a later time.
