Laurita E. Jacobson Obituary
LAURITA E JACOBSON, 97, passed away on July 5, 2015 at her home in Riverside, CA. Born January 29, 1918 in Hinsdale Illinois, Laurita was preceded in death by her loving husband of 55 years, Melvin V. Jacobson. As a child she lived in Jamaica and Costa Rica. Her parents, Hildur and William Wineland, served as missionaries. Laurita went to school at the Central American Academy in Costa Rica through the 12th grade, and then attended Pacific Union College in Angwin, CA, graduating in 1940. Laurita and her husband Melvin also served as missionaries in Iran and Iraq. She moved to La Sierra in 1960 and was a member of the La Sierra University church and served for 44 years in the church's Pathfinder Club. Mrs. Jacobson had her degree in music and taught many piano student until the age of 95. She enjoyed gardening, scrapbooking, sewing, playing the piano, Pathfinders, traveling and visiting with her family, especially her children and grandchildren. Laurita Jacobson is survived by her son, Douglas Jacobson of Colton; her 3 daughters; Margaret Stephens of Paradise, Vernette Day of Centralia Wash., and Karen Kugel of Chehalis Wash; along with their spouses, 15 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren, cousins, nieces, nephews and countless friends. We will all miss her friendship, smile and love. Services will be Saturday, August 8, 2015 at 4pm at La Sierra University Church, 4937 Sierra Vista Ave, Riverside, CA 92505. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be given to Pathfinder Ministries at La Sierra University Church.
