LaVerne H. Kosar Obituary
LAVERNE H. KOSAR, 89, of West Salem, Wis., and formerly of Hemet, Calif., passed away Sunday, May 25, 2014, at Mulder Health Care Facility, West Salem. She was born April 2, 1925, in Chicago, Ill., to William and Gertrude (Brezinski) Raidy. On October 17, 1943, LaVerne married Martin Kosar in Chicago and he preceded her in death in February of 2001. They lived in the Chicago area until 1956 when they moved to Hemet, Calif. Music was a very important part of LaVerne's life. She and Martin loved polka dancing and throughout her life, LaVerne enjoyed playing the accordion and listening to accordion music. Even though LaVerne did not pursue a formal education after high school, she was an avid reader and spent much of her pastime with her nose in a good book. She also was very well versed and knowledgeable with grammar in the English language. Most of all, LaVerne was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother and her entire life revolved around her family. Survivors include five children, Robert (Lynn) Kosar of Winchester, Calif., Martin (Darlene) Kosar of Romoland, Calif., Darlene (Paul) Orr of Alta Loma, Calif., Marilyn (Mark) Johnson of West Salem, and Lori (David) Illsley of Scottsdale, Ariz.; numerous grandchildren; and many great-grandchildren. In addition to her husband, LaVerne was preceded in death by her parents; her son, Rick Kosar; her grandson, Nick Kosar; and one brother, Robert (Ellen) Raidy. In accordance with her wishes, LaVerne's body will be cremated and a private memorial service will be held in California and later she will be laid to rest next to her husband in the Riverside National Cemetery, Riverside, Calif. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, P.O. Box 1000, Dept. 142, Memphis, Tenn., 38101-9908.
