Lavon Malcolm Obituary
LAVON MALCOLM, 85, was ushered into Heaven on February 5, 2016 from Riverside, California. She was born to Mae and L.P. Jones in Calhoun, Missouri on February 8, 1930. She grew up in Kansas and moved to California with her family in 1944, settling in Banning where she met and married John Malcolm on June 10, 1946. They lived in Banning, Riverside and Glendale, California while raising their four daughters. Through the years, she was a homemaker, talented poet, and worked in a local bakery and popular department store in Glendale. At the age of 48, Lavon decided to try her hand at painting, and discovered her tremendous talent with oils. This new found talent blossomed quickly, and she became a very prolific artist, painting still life, candid shots, portraits, and whatever touched her heart. Her artwork was one of her greatest pleasures in life, and was a blessing to others. She joined the Arlington Art Center where she also served on the Board of Directors for a number of years. Lavon was predeceased by her beloved sister, Joyce. She is survived by her brother Skipper; daughters Cheri Robinson, Marci McQueen, Lonni Peterson and Shelli Lawless along with 12 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren. Lavon's family would like to extend a special thanks to the wonderful owners and staff at Faith, Hope and Love Assisted Living for their love and care for Lavon over the past three years. A memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m. at Acheson and Graham Garden of Prayer Mortuary on Saturday, February 13, 2016.
