Leland Bruce "Buck" Adair Obituary
LELAND BRUCE "BUCK" ADAIR July 27, 1922 - November 22, 2012 Our beloved father and grandfather went home to his Lord on Thanksgiving night, having lived a long and meaningful life full of family, friendship and service to God and man. His passing was peaceful, with his grandson Mark at his side. Buck was born in 1922 and spent his early years in Oklahoma and New Mexico on family cattle ranches. At the age of nine years old, during the Great Depression, he left home, with an older brother and hopped a freight for California. Thus began a life of hard work that did not stop until he was in his eighties. He was a farmer, a milker, a dairy herdsman, and feedstock manager. After he "retired" he worked twelve more years building steps and sheds for Panorama Products. In 1940 he met Mary Alice Davis and married her in 1942. They were married for 67 years. Mary was waiting for him in heaven with a kiss and a piece of pie. He was also reunited with his granddaughter Britia, his great-grandbaby Finley, his parents, siblings and so many friends and relatives who preceded him on their heavenly journey. Buck was a proud member of the Chickasaw nation - even though he was a cowboy. As an active member of Alcoholics Anonymous he helped many others achieve and maintain sobriety. He was proud to call "Bill W." his friend for nearly 40 years. Buck leaves his children and their spouses: Ann and Lee Overman, Randy and Susan Adair, Bobbi Jean and Doug Smith, Nancy and John Maich, and a bunch of grandkids (14), great grandkids (25) and great-great grandkids (3). Family was so important to him and he made it important to us also. We will miss him. Buck's favorite Bible verse was proverbs 3:5-6 "Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him and He shall direct your paths." A memorial service will be held Saturday, December 1, 2012 at 11:30am at Bible Fellowship Church, 26835 Columbia St., Hemet, CA 92544. Donations may be made in Buck's honor to Cornerstone Hospice, 1461 E. Cooley Drive, Suite 220, Colton, CA 92324.
