Leolyn Fern McClure Obituary
LEOLYN FERN MCCLURE Devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and friend Leolyn Fern McClure, 85, passed away peacefully in her home on Tuesday, December 27, 2016, surrounded by her family. Leolyn was born July 26, 1931 in Los Angeles, California, to the late Gerald and Jannette (Meseraull) Fearr. Leolyn is survived by her husband Chet; their four children, Patrick (Michelle), Shannon (David) Osborne, Michael (Amy), and Sean (Laura); her thirteen grandchildren, Justin (Holly), Molly (Paul) Casey, Timothy, Lauren (Erik) Martinez, Sasha, Taylor, Tawny, Michael, Tanner, Kelsey, Kevin, Tre, and Cassidy; and her seven great-grandchildren, Cierra, Sean Michael, Cruz, Sophie, Ryan, Xavi, and Helios. She was preceded in death by her brothers and sister: Gerald Clayton Jr. (died in infancy), Delores Ernestine, and Gerald Clayton Jr. Leolyn and her husband Chet lived together happily for 67 years. They started their lives in Sylmar, California, and raised their family there. She took great pride in her family and enjoyed even the simplest of moments. Camping was something she always looked forward to, particularly in Carpinteria, where she loved experiencing the beach on a warm sunny day. Leolyn and Chet later moved to Norco, California, where she spent her last thirty years. Many memories were created in those years, camping in Silent Valley, frequent trips to Disneyland to visit Mickey, and yearly trips to Dana Point to enjoy the beach. More grandchildren arrived, and eventually great-grandchildren came along. Every moment she could spend with her family she cherished--the celebrations, the holidays, and the intimate visits at her home, especially watching the young ones play with the same toys that all the grandkids played with over the last 42 years. A most cherished memory of Leolyn's was her and Chet's 50th wedding anniversary that was spent on the island of Catalina with their entire family and a few close friends. She and Chet discovered a love of the mountains and purchased a cabin in Crestline, California, which they enjoyed as their vacation home for 15 years. She loved feeding the squirrels and birds and surrounding their cabin with plants, especially red geraniums. Her love and talent for making things grow showed in her home, her cabin, and the lives of her loved ones left behind. Leolyn will be truly missed by all who knew her. The Viewing and Services will be held on Thursday, January 12, 2017 at Pierce Brothers Crestlawn Memorial Park in Riverside, California. The Viewing will take place at 11:00am, the Memorial Service at 12:00pm, and the Grave Site Service at 1:15pm, followed by a reception to share memories with family and friends.
