Leonard W. Bartels Obituary
LEONARD W. BARTELS Leonard passed away Wednesday March 13, 2013 at the age of 84. Leonard was born July 1, 1928 in Mapleton, Iowa to Harry and Violet (Smith) Bartels. Mr. Bartels served in the US Army, US Navy, and US Air Force; from which he retired. Leonard also worked for 27 years as a grounds crewman for the Veterans' Administration at The Riverside National Cemetery until his retirement. He was very involved in the VFW and served at many state and local levels, most recently as Quartermaster of VFW Post 8547. Leonard also participated in the American Legion, The Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks No. 2697, and The Loyal Order Of Moose, all of Moreno Valley. Leonard is survived by his wife Frances, who was the love of his life; sons Paul, Arthur, Phillip and Jeffrey Patino; daughters Deborah Jones and Crystal Cacerras; 11 precious grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren. Visitation will be held Tuesday, March 19, 2013 from 4-8pm in Akes Family's "Chapel of Chimes". Graveside Funeral Services will be conducted Wednesday, March 20, 2013 in Riverside National Cemetery at 10:31am.
