Lester Joseph Fera Obituary

Lester Joseph Fera, longtime resident of Corona, passed away on Thursday, October 12, 2017, surrounded by family. He was born and raised in Trenton, NJ. At 20, Lester joined the U.S. Navy and served his country proudly during the Korean War, on the U.S.S. Juneau. While on liberty in Long Beach, CA, he met Mary Kay Hearons -- and fell in love with her and Southern California. After his Navy service, he married Kay in 1957. They were together almost 60 years, until her death on May 12, 2017.
He is survived by his older daughter, Shelley Fera; younger daughter and son-in-law, Lesley Fera-Mochel and Ned Mochel; two brothers, Joseph Williams and Frank Fera; two sisters, Annie LaMothe and Mary Fera; plus numerous sisters- and brothers-in-law, nieces and nephews.
Lester was a hardworking provider for his family. His employment history included years in high-level management at both Singer and Friden. In 1980, he obtained his real estate license and eventually began his own mobile home business. After he retired, he continued to work as a security guard for Watson until he was 82.
Lester was an artist at heart; oil painting and portraiture were his passions. He loved to watch classic westerns, listen to the Great American Songbook, do gardening, and swim at the beach.
But his true passion was his family, especially the quality time he spent with his wife and daughters. Lester was a gentleman and a gentle man, who will be sorely missed.
The family wishes to thank the tremendous staff at Pomona Valley ICU1 for their tender care during Lester's final days, and the stellar staff at Pomona Vista Care Center for taking such good care of him over the past five years.
A memorial will be held at Riverside National Cemetery, 22495 Van Buren Avenue, March Air Reserve Base, CA 92518, on November 14, 2017 at 11:01 a.m. Friends and family are welcome to come pay their final respects.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in memory of Lester Joseph Fera to: Wounded Warrior Project, https://www.woundedwarriorproject.org/.
