Lianne Elissa Dennstedt Obituary
8/9/1998 - 9/18/2017
It is with inconceivable sadness that the family of Lianne Elissa Dennstedt announces her passing on September 18, 2017, at the age of 19. Our precious Lianne was surrounded by her family in Flagstaff, Arizona, when she lost her brief and unexpected battle with a rare form of bacterial meningitis.
While our hearts are broken by this incredible tragedy, we are sustained by vivid memories of our vibrant, loving Lianne, who brought so much joy and laughter to the world. In her short life, she was blessed to accomplish so much and touch so many. Lianne was active and outgoing; she reveled in nature and had a passion for traveling. She was born in San Diego on August 9, 1998, and was a 2016 graduate of Murrieta Valley High School, receiving a full International Baccalaureate diploma. A talented athlete, she also ran cross country in high school, achieving many awards and medals. She was the kind of young woman that anyone would be proud to call daughter, sister, niece or friend.
At the time of her death, Lianne was an Environmental Science major in her sophomore year at Northern Arizona University in Flagstaff, on an exciting path to reaching her dreams. She was an A student and on the Dean's List for both semesters of her freshman year. Lianne was drawn to NAU because of its high scholastic standards and she thrived in the university's picturesque, mountainous setting that allowed her to nurture her adventurous spirit. Lianne was a bold and carefree soul whose legacy of determination, kindness and caring will endure far longer than the years she had on this earth. Her influence and inspiration will live on forever in the many family members and friends whose lives she touched.
Lianne is survived by her parents, Brenda Dennstedt of Murrieta, and Shawn Dennstedt of Murrieta; sister Jaimee Dennstedt of Murrieta; grandfather Stephen Dennstedt of San Diego; aunts and uncles Kathleen D. and Gary E. Thornberry of Redlands, Ralph and Debbie Adamos of Prescott, Ariz., Rebecca Ochiltree of Seattle, Wash., and Chris Loveday of Chandler, Ariz.; great-uncle Joel Dennstedt of San Diego; and cousins Shannon Cuffley of Pasadena, Md., and Matt O'Connor and Claire O'Connor of Austin, Texas. Many extended family and a countless number of friends share in this tragic loss. Lianne was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents, John and Judy Gray of Fort Mohave, Ariz., and her paternal grandmother, Lynda Loveday of Silverdale, Wash.
Viewings will be held at the Murrieta Valley Funeral Home at 24651 Washington Avenue in Murrieta on Friday, October 6, 2017, from 5-8 p.m. and The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints at 24820 Las Brisas Road in Murrieta on Saturday, October 7, 2017, from 1:30-3:30 p.m.
