Linda Marie Workman Obituary
LINDA MARIE WORKMAN Linda passed away suddenly at her home on August 28, 2013. She was the much loved and adored wife of Russell Workman for 37 years. They made their home in Riverside and theirs was an exceptionally close and loving marriage. Besides her husband, Linda leaves behind her mother, Eleanore Dixon of San Diego, and her sisters Kay Mayeski of Vista, Lisa Dixon of San Diego, and Evelyn Cordner of Riverside. She was the beloved aunt of Stephanie Standerfer of Riverside, Zach Cordner of Oceanside, Chase Johnsen of San Diego and Leyden Daniels of San Diego. She was predeceased by her father, Frank Mayeski in 1992. During part of her youth, Linda lived for a short period of time in Munich, Germany and spoke German fluently. She loved her mother's homeland and especially her memories of living there. Linda was born and raised in Riverside, California and attended St. Thomas Elementary School, Chemawa Jr. High and Ramona High School. She later attended Riverside City College where she was on the Honor Roll. Linda worked for many years, mostly in Human Resource positions, for the U.S. Government in Washington, DC, San Francisco and Riverside. She also spent several years with Riverside Cement Company in Riverside with her last position as Personnel Manager for then California Baptist College. She was an excellent cook, baker and gardner and her home was filled with her laughter, her husband and beloved dogs. She was a loving and caring wife, daughter, sister, aunt and friend. She brought great joy to those who were fortunate to be part of her life. She will be profoundly missed by all who loved her. Linda was diagnosed with a precursor to multiple myeloma in 2007 which later progressed to High Risk Smoldering Myeloma for which she was undergoing chemotherapy treatment at the time of her passing. She became active with the International Myeloma Foundation and was an active member of the Inland Empire Multiple Myeloma Support Group (IEMMSG) in Riverside. In lieu of flowers, it would make the family happy if contributions were made to the IEMMSG, or the , in her honor.
