LOIS MAE JAMES passed away in Riverside, CA on February 5th, 2016, her 90th birthday. Lois was the third of four daughters born to Roy and Mae Cowden, on a farm in Casey, IA. Upon graduating from Casey High School she moved to Omaha, NE, where she worked for the Glenn L. Martin-Nebraska Bomber Plant and Mutual of Omaha, before meeting and then marrying Charles D. James (Dave) in 1950. Lois and Dave had 3 children that they raised in Fairborn, OH, Ypsilanti, MI, Garden Grove, CA, and Riverside, CA. Upon her husband's retirement from the Air Force (Norton AFB), Mr. and Mrs James moved to Fairborn, OH, where they resided from 1971-2007. In 2007 Lois and Dave returned to Riverside, where they took up residence at Air Force Village West/Altavita, and completed their lives, with Dave passing away in 2012. During her years as a housewife and mother, Lois additionally took classes at City College and spent some time working as an Administrative Assistant. Lois enjoyed gardening, church, and her many friendships. In addition to her husband, Lois was preceded in death by her sister, Bethel Reid. She is survived by her daughter Diane Swift (George); sons Charles D. James, Jr. (Kia) and William James; grandson Benjamin James; granddaughter Hannah Luna; sisters Marjorie Anderson and Jean Larson (Dale); and several nieces and nephews. She will be laid to rest at Riverside National Cemetery at a private service.
