Lorraine Barrozo Roux Obituary
LORRAINE BARROZO ROUX was born on December 13, 1923 in Calasiao, Pangasinan, Philippines and passed away on October 8, 2016 at the Riverside County Regional Medical Center in Moreno Valley, CA. Her father was Dalmacio Barrozo and her mother was Victorina Bautista Barrozo. The family moved to Manaoag, Pangasinan, Philippines when Lorraine was about 9 months old, where her mother was from. Lorraine graduated from Manaoag High School in 1948 after the Second World War. After graduation, she attended the Dagupan Junior College that summer, before transferring to the Centro Escolar University in Manila, Philippines. In December 1949, she married to Ernest V. Roux, a 1st Lieutenant in the U.S. Army. After having their first child, her husband told her to quit school because he could not trust their two maids to take care of their baby, Evelyn, without Lorraine's supervision. Her husband, Ernest, took his family to the United States in August 1956. He was stationed in different states until he retired in July 1961. After that, the family came to California in August 1961 from Aberdeen, Maryland, where Ernest was last stationed and subsequently retired as a Captain in the U.S. Army. Ernest passed away on December 3, 1973. While in California, Lorraine attended Riverside City College (RCC) where she received her AA Degree in June 1969. After she graduated from RCC, she attended the University of California at Riverside. In 1971, she received her teaching credential from Moreno Valley Unified School District to teach grades 9-12. Lorraine lived in Moreno Valley, CA since 1961 (then called Sunnymead) through 1975. She moved to Riverside, CA in 1975 and moved back to Moreno Valley, CA in October 1986 where she lived until she passed away. Lorraine also worked at Bourns in Riverside, CA, as an electronic inspector. In 1989, she worked at the March Air Force Base Hospital at the Information Desk until the hospital closed in January 1996. Afterwards, she worked with the Red Cross as a volunteer. Lorraine is survived by her six children: Evelyn Timblin from Corona, CA, Ernest Roux, Jr. and Gwendolyn Roux from Moreno Valley, CA, Lorraine Bradley from Newport, VT, Edmund Roux from Carlsbad, CA and Llewellyn Roux from Goleta, CA. Lorraine is also survived by her brother, Miguel B. Doctor from Quezon City, Philippines; sister, Espirita B. Doctor, from Middlesex, England; seven grandchildren: Jamie Wood from Corona, CA, Jason Hall from Perris, CA, Lisa Hall from Moreno Valley, CA, Jonathan Roux from San Jose, CA, Regis Bradley and Lance Bradley from Newport, VT and Ericka Gonzales from Redlands, CA; and nine great grandchildren.
