LOUIS BORCUK Louis John Borcuk, 85, of Riverside, CA, succumbed to heart failure at Parkview Community Hospital surrounded by his family on December 12, 2012. Lou is survived by his sons James and Steven Borcuk, daughter Judith Chalkus, brother William Borcuk, and many loving grandchildren and extended family. Lou was preceded in death by his wife, Ann Marie (Hurley) Borcuk; sons John, Joseph and William Borcuk; brothers Peter, Michael, John, Joe, and Kenneth Borcuk; and sisters Mary LaMontagne, Sophie Borcuk and Pauline Borcuk. Lou was born in Windsor, VT on May 26, 1927 the son of William and Mary (Pozniak) Borcuk. Lou attended Windsor High School where he excelled in athletics. He still holds some high school records including longest home run. He was offered several college athletic scholarships but chose to play football at North Dakota State University. Lou entered the ROTC program at NDSU and was commissioned as on officer in the U.S. Air Force. He served 20 years as an Air Force pilot, retiring at the rank of Major. Major Borcuk served in World War II, the Korean War and the Vietnam War. Funeral services for Lou will be at the Acheson and Graham Mortuary in Riverside, CA on Friday, December 28, from 10:00 to 11:00 AM. Following the services Lou will be laid to rest with Ann, John, Joseph and William at the Riverside National Cemetery at 12:15 PM., where he will receive full military honors.
