LOUISE C. MARTIN JANUARY 15, 1918- AUGUST 2, 2013 Louise C. Martin, a member of the Coudures pioneer farming family of Perris Valley, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on August 2, 2013 at the age of 95. Louise was born on January 15, 1918, the second of four children to John and Marie Coudures. She attended elementary school in the Val Verde area and graduated from Perris High School in 1935. In 1940, she married Clifford Martin, a member of another Perris pioneer farming family. Louise attended Riverside City College and Business College before working at the Riverside County Assessor's Office. Later she worked as a Clerk of the Perris Justice Court under Judge Wilkerson. During World War II, she also volunteered as an observer for enemy planes at the Observation Listening Post located at the Cowie Ranch east of Perris. Louise was involved in several local organizations including PTA, Brownie and Girl Scouts, the Altar Society of St. James Church in Perris, and the Visiting Nurse Association. She and her husband, Clifford, loved to travel. They also both enjoyed tennis, golf, family boating, spectator sports, playing Bridge with their friends on a weekly basis, and enjoying their grandchildren. In recent years, Louise loved to read and work the daily newspaper crossword puzzle. Louise is preceded in death by her husband, Clifford Martin; her brother, John Coudures Jr.; her sister, Denise McBride; her brother-in-law, Charles Johnston; and niece, Katie Johnston Bernal. She is survived by her sister, Marie Johnston; daughters Jeanne Schulte (Steve) and Janice Smith (Darrell); granddaughters Suzy Scott Paulson (Darin) and Anne Scott Yonan (Peter); grandsons Jeff and Jon Smith (Eleanor); and great- grandchildren Petr Paulson, Mari and Luke Yonan. Louise was a 95-year resident of Perris Valley; she had a long, active, full life. She enjoyed her family and her many friends. Visitation and Rosary service will be held Monday, August 12 from 5-8 p.m. (Rosary 6 p.m.) at the Miller-Jones Chapel in Sun City. A Celebration of Life Mass will be held at St. James Church in Perris on Tuesday, August 13 at 11 a.m. with burial following at the Perris Valley Cemetery.
