1917 - 2014 Obituary Condolences
LUCY ANNE SHAPPI, age 96, left us on September 20, 2014 to be with her Lord and Savior. Lucy was born in Wakefield, Massachusetts to the late Boleslaw and Rose (Brozozka) Wanelik. Lucy achieved her child hood dream of becoming a nurse and proudly served in that capacity (US Army) during World War II. Lucy's unwavering faith in God and her steely determination propelled her to create and achieve, despite her many physical limitations. She was a passionate artist and won numerous awards for her flower arrangements. She was a nature lover, perusing the forests for unusual pieces of wood or rocks to be used in her arrangements. Her flower gardens and backyard bird watching brought her untold joy. She was kind and gentle and always focused on the good in people. She was a constant inspiration to her children and to all who were lucky enough to know her. She was preceded in death by her husband of 68 years, Marvin, and siblings Marion, Francine, Amelia, William and Walter. She is survived by her brother Stash; children Jayne (Floyd) and Marv; four grandchildren; numerous great grandchildren and nieces and nephews. A celebration of life will begin at Acheson & Graham Garden of Prayer Chapel. Visitation on Wednesday, October 1 from 4PM to 8 PM. Funeral celebration at St. Catherine of Alexandria on Thursday, October 2 at 10 AM with reception to follow. As an option in lieu of flowers, please donate to .
