Lyndell "Linda" King Obituary
LYNDELL "LINDA" KING Linda was born November 4, 1948 to Lillian Terrell Lewis and James Lewis in Riverside, CA. Linda was raised and grew up in Casa Blanca with her brother Oberd and sisters Deborah, Aletha, and Renee. She attended Casa Blanca Elementary School, Gage Middle School, and graduated from Ramona High School. When Linda was 14, she met the love of her life, Theodore "Ted" King Jr. They dated for four years and married November 6, 1966. They lived and raised their daughters in Riverside. She was married to her lover, best friend, and soul mate for 46 years. Linda's love for children inspired her to open a home daycare. Working at Riverside County General Hospital allowed her to express her love for helping people. The experience encouraged her to work with seniors as a Site Manager for the Office of Aging. Linda retired in 2001 so she and her husband could enjoy their love of traveling. Linda loved to read, and it is a passion she passed on to her daughters. She enjoyed gambling and on her frequent trips to Laughlin she made many friends because of her outgoing friendly personality. Linda enjoyed cooking and baking, especially southern dishes like gumbo and jambalaya. Her fried chicken was often requested for parties and potlucks. She took special pride in baking her lemon jello cakes and peach cobblers. She was preceded in death by her mother and father James and Lillian Lewis and her brother Oberd Lewis and her brother-in-law Monroe King. Linda leaves to cherish her memory: 4 daughters, Angela Durham (Stephen), Kyra Sims (Art), Kary King, and Keli Shorter (Leon), 11 grandchildren, Lynee and Arthur Sims, Theo and Alyssia King, Daniel and Mariah Garcia, Jayden Walters, Noel, Kali, Kay'Leon and Leon IV Shorter. She will be greatly missed by her mothers-in-law and father-in-law, sisters, sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law. She also leaves behind a host of nieces, nephews, and many relatives, lifetime friends and many others she touched with her love.
