Mack Allan Ladd Obituary
MACK ALLAN LADD November 27, 1934 - March 9, 2013 Born in Missoula, Montana to Sidsel Mari Mortensen and Oliver Prentice Ladd, the Ladds lived in Orange County, Crossroads and in Riverside, California. Mack was a Building Contractor for The Racquet Club in Palm Springs and built beautiful family homes in Canyon Crest and in cities throughout Riverside and San Bernardino County. Forced into early retirement by increasing health problems, Mack raised race horses, and over a period of fifteen years, one part at a time, resurrected his 1928 Model A Ford 2 door Sedan. An avid sports fan, he followed the UCLA Bruins, the Angels and the Lakers. Some favorite television programs include Person of Interest, Mentalist, Hawaii Five-O and Elementary. Everything from country to opera, Mack loved music. In the old days, he was known to start his day listening to The Boston Pops 1812 Overture or Frank Sinatra's Come Fly with Me. He admired Impressionist painting and enjoyed home cooking. A good, honest and strong willed man, a Ron Paul Republican, Mack was extremely proud of his American heritage. He researched the Ladd family for many years, before the age of computers, tracing the Ladds back to Downs, England in the early fifteenth century. A childhood Polio survivor, Mack was haunted by Post Polio Syndrome throughout his adult life. Baptized a Catholic during his recently prolonged stay in numerous hospitals, Mack received the last rites there from Fr. Arlan Intal. Having fought a nearly lifelong war against disease, in his last days Mack tragically had to fight hospital case workers and management just to be allowed to go home after their unconscionable directives caused him unimaginable suffering and pain. Steadfast, this final battle won, Mack died peacefully at home among family. His long war finally finished, Mack is home now in Heaven, in glory with our Lord. This good and gentle man is survived by his wife of forty five years, Nancy; by sons, Mack, Jr. (Sandra), Mark (Angie), David (Kerry), and Allan (Brandy), John Lipari and Chris Byrne. He is dearly loved and will be missed by many grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and by Ellie Mae. He is survived by his sister, Bette Ladd and Lynn Wheeler. A Blessing of the Burial will be performed at the Gravesite Memorial by Fr. Arlan Intal of St. Christopher's Church at Olivewood Cemetery, 3300 Central Avenue, Riverside at 11:00am Monday, March 18. Post prayers, memories and photos on DignityMemorial.com In lieu of flowers, the family requests you support the good work of the Native Sons of the Golden West Cleft Palate Clinic www.nsgw.org/charity.
