A Loving Husband, Brother, Dad, Grandpa, Great-Grandpa, Great-Great Grandpa, Uncle, Cousin and Friend.
Marcello passed on Friday, February 23, 2018 at the age of 95. Born in Moline, Kansas on November 12, 1922, his family moved to Alberhill, California. He went to school in Lake Elsinore and graduated from Elsinore High School where he lettered in Track, Basketball, Baseball and Football. Upon graduation Marty was called to serve his country in the United States Army, 84th Infantry Division. After his honorable discharge from the United States Army, he married Marcella Gutierrez Salgado on June 8, 1948. He worked for Corona Spring Company as a machinist and later for the Corona-Norco Unified School District as part of the district maintenance crew from which he retired. Marty stressed the value of education and was very proud of all of the grandkids educational accomplishments. He enjoyed participating in all of their sports activities and rarely missed any. His big love though, other than his wife, was his 1967 El Camino with a 396 turbo.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Mary Valdez Arguelles and father, Marcello Flores Arguelles; two brothers: Herman Valdez Arguelles and Rudolph Valdez Arguelles; two sisters: Catalina Valdez Arguelles and Concepcion Arguelles Serdas; his daughter Anna Herrera Kessler; and grandson David Gonzalez.
Marcello is survived by his wife of nearly seventy years, Marcella (Chilina) Arguelles; his only surviving sister, Stella Arguelles Roa; five (5) children: Catalina (Catie) Fuentes, Rudy Arguelles Sr., Lydia Gonzalez, Anthony Arguelles and Justin Arguelles; also a grandson he raised as his own son, Rudy Arguelles Jr. He is also survived by thirteen (13) other grandchildren, twenty-one (21) great-grandchildren and one (1) great-great grandchild and a town full of nieces, nephews and cousins.
Grandpa, Gramps, Mr. Marcello or Marty, as he was often called, will be greatly missed by all.
Services for Marcello are as follows: Viewing: Tuesday, March 6, 2018 at Grimes-Akes Family Funeral Home, 500 West 7th Street, Corona, CA 92882 from 4-8 pm with Rosary at 6:30 pm. Church Service: Wednesday, March 7, 2018 at Saint Edwards Church, 417 W. Grand Blvd., Corona, CA 92882, promptly at 9:00am - ending at 9:45am. Burial: Wednesday March 7, 2018 at Riverside National Cemetery, 22495 Van Buren Blvd., Riverside CA 92518, 1:00 pm after Church Service. Arrangements are Entrusted to the Care of
