Margaret Ann (Lienerth) Randolph Obituary
MARGARET ANN (LIENERTH) RANDOLPH July 23, 1927 June 18, 2014 Margaret Ann (Lienerth) Randolph was from Austrian decent. Her parents, Johann and Sophie (Arz) Lienerth traveled by boat as newlyweds to America. They arrived in America in 1921 by way of Ellis Island. Margaret and her five siblings were first generation born in the Untied States. Her parents first settled in Ohio but later moved to Hemlock Michigan, where Margaret was born. Margaret was orphaned at the age of six; she and her sister Hattie (Lienerth) Schury, and her brothers John, William, Julius and Don Lienerth were taken in by other family members. Her father's sister, Agnes (Lienerth) Roth, raised Margaret. Even though she was separated from her siblings, they remained close and continued growing up together as a family. Margaret was the last surviving sibling. When Margaret was 19 years old, she accepted an invitation to go on a blind date arranged by a mutual friend, Marilyn. Her date that evening was James John Randolph, who was home on leave from the Army. They fell in love and within a year, they were married. Margaret and Jim moved to California in 1948 and settled in Los Angeles. Jim worked for McDonald Douglas and Margaret was a very busy mother of three girls, Judi, Bonnie and Kathy. The family moved from Los Angeles to San Diego, where a fourth child was born, a son; Jerry. The family moved to Riverside in 1963 and settled in a green house on the corner of Green and Randolph. It always brought a laugh when Margaret gave her address to people. In 1964, Margaret and Jim joined Faith Lutheran Church. They were very committed to the church through the 50 plus years of membership. Margaret worked 38 years in the medical field as a Nurse's Aide. Her first job in Riverside was at Chapman House Convalescent; she then worked at Riverside Community Hospital for 14 years, the last 15 years of her career were at Parkview Community Hospital. After the children were grown, the grandchildren arrived. The family became blended as marriages of her children brought Margaret seven grandchildren, Jerry, Mark, Tony, Tara, Nicole, Justin, and Anthony, along with two great grandchildren, Nick and Matt and two great, great grandchildren Kaiden and Adalynn. Margaret's husband Jim passed away in 1991 and Margaret moved to Whispering Fountains, a Senior Community. She made new friends and enjoyed several activities while living there. She also enjoyed some hobbies, such as working jigsaw puzzles, latch hook and colored pencil drawings. Margaret was blessed with a long and loving life with her family and friends. She will be missed by all of us. She raised her children well, she gave them guidance, strength and support; but most of all she gave them love.
