MARGARET JEAN HARDEN-SCHLARB "Maggie" or "Gigi" 1-27-30 - 3-25-16 Maggie was born in Cape Girardeau, Missouri to Elsie and Leonard Cummins. She graduated from Central High School, Poplar Bluff, Missouri. She attended College Prep and graduated with honors. She also attended Southeast Missouri State College, "47-48", then attended Fresno State College, Fresno, Ca., "48-49". Maggie and her mother moved to Texas and settled in El Paso, Texas. That is where she met and married Walter P. Harden. They eventually settled with their children in Riverside, California in late 1964. Walter passed away on January 27, 1975. A couple of years later she met and married the love of her life, Jon C. Schlarb. They were happily married for 38 years. He passed Dec. 8, 2015. Maggie worked for Alvord Unified School District at La Sierra High School starting in 1971. There she was the Work Experience Assistant and Career Center Technician. She kept in touch with many students over the years after her retirement. She and Jon loved the Elks Lodge, camping club, country western dancing and the Tuesday Nighters. Gigi is survived by her daughters Sara Kay Harden-Joseph-Cummins-Lamar (John), and Deborah Sue Harden-Buchanan (Don); grandchildren Amanda Joseph and John William Cummins; great grandson Todd Creighton Buchanan, along with her best friends Dixie Brenner and Karen Kane, and especially all of her Birthday Club girls that she loved with all her heart. Plus her sweet Sadie. She is also survived by her brother J.D. Kinnison (Phyllis); sister Pam Glader (Doug) and many nieces and nephews. Services will be held Tuesday, May 3, 2016 at 2:00 pm at Riverside National Cemetery on Van Buren Blvd., Riverside, Calif. Reception to follow at the Schlarb family home.
