Margrit "Maggie" Younger Obituary
MARGRIT "MAGGIE" YOUNGER January 8, 1943 - May 1, 2016 Maggie Younger was born in Helmstedt, Germany, on January 8,1943. She peacefully passed away, at home on May 1, 2016 in San Bernardino, of a chronic heart condition. She is predeceased by two sons, and leaves three step-children and a granddaughter. Maggie arrived in the United States in 1960. She was a hard-working, fun-loving waitress and bartender for numerous dining establishments for 40+ years. Everything changed when she met Colonel Jey Younger. They were married 1979 in Oahu, Hawaii. Between work, play, travel and hobbies, life was more than good--it was great! She was proud to be born on Elvis' birthday, and celebrated each year with gusto! Maggie was a force to be reckoned with, and Jey had his hands full. She was a clever and talented gardener, cook, seamstress, bargain shopper, crochet pro and loved to cruise. She had her own greenhouse. She enjoyed hosting their Sunday brunches, and her turkey soup was legend. Also, her crocheted bedspreads were museum quality. Most of all, she was very proud to be a United States citizen. She made it a point to only speak English, and amazed some German visitors who commented that "for an American, she spoke really good German"! A very special "thank you" to JoJo Hautz for all her care. A Celebration of Life will take place on Sunday, May 15, 2016 at 2:00P.M. at The Greenbriar, 1259 E. Lynwood Drive, San Bernardino. Bring your stories and anecdotes to share and ask yourself: Are those your legs, or are you riding a chicken?
