Marian Davis Obituary
MARIAN DAVIS Brave and beautiful in life and in death, Marian Davis died peacefully in San Antonio, Texas, on May 5, 2013. Her family will commit her ashes at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery at a later date. Born on March 3, 1924 in Minneapolis, MN, Marian Sonja Jensen was the daughter of Marius Jens Jensen and Elsa Karin Margareta Carlson. She married Lawrence L. Davis in 1946 and created a family that weathered triumphantly the demands of living in the Strategic Air Command. Whether she was coping with blizzards at Loring AFB, Maine or battling sandstorms at Biggs Air Force Base, El Paso, she kept a beautiful home and taught her children to consider life an adventure. Her holiday table often welcomed young airmen away from home and her children learned the importance of respecting people of all ethnicities and backgrounds. She and her husband celebrated their 65th anniversary in Texas in 2010 after relocating from Riverside, CA, where they enjoyed 40 years of good friends and additional careers. They were duplicate bridge life masters and played in tournaments all over the world. During this time, she inspired her husband to pursue his PhD and launch a satisfying second career as a psychologist. She enjoyed working in insurance adjusting and in the library for the University of California, Riverside. She is survived by her loving husband, Lt. Col. (Ret) Lawrence L. Davis of San Antonio; her three children and their families, and her brother. These are Dr. Michael J. Davis (Darcea) of Keller, Tx, Karen Davis Kilgore of Kerrville, and Lawrence R. Davis (Patricia) of Maricopa, AZ. Her five grandchildren include Dr. Shannon M. Kilgore, David W. Kilgore, Michael E. Davis, Gregory R. Davis and Mark L. Davis. Her great grandchildren are Austin and Rachel Farhoudi; Tanner, Molly and Harrison Davis; and Kaylin and Victoria Davis. Her brother, M.J. Jensen, Jr. and his wife, Betty, live in Omaha, NE. She was predeceased by her parents, her sister Marcile Jensen Smith, and her beloved granddaughter, Amanda Davis Pivnick. Memorials can be made to the , for whom she served many years as a volunteer, or the .
